  • I’m Done With Flock

Posted on February 5th, 2010 TRBdigital No comments

I was promoting Flock a little while back.  When I say promoting, I don’t mean that was making money off of it.  I was just suggesting that people try and use it.  At the time it seemed really good and had a lot of “Social” tools built in.

I switched back to Firefox and I use use Chrome a lot now as well.  Flock was freezing up my computer and making things slow.  I really liked it at first, but it slowly began to fade.

In my opinion Firefox is a lot more stable, and the new version of Chrome seems pretty good as well.  I’m certainly not a programmer, but I’ve been around the block a few times as a big user and these are the two browsers I would recomemend now.

  • I Hate Feeling Scammed

Posted on March 6th, 2009 TRBdigital No comments

Don’t you just hate it when you fall for something that is a scam, but you were kind of excited about it at first. Here are the top 9 scams that scammers use. They are from PC World, and you can read them in more detail on their site.

    Social Networking Scams

    1. “I’m traveling in London and I’ve lost my wallet. Can you wire some money?”
    2. “Someone has a secret crush on you! Download this application to find who it is!”
    3. “Did you see this video of you? Check out this link!”

    Office Offenses

    1. “This is Chris from tech services. I’ve been notified of an infection on your computer.”
    2. “Hi, I’m from the rep from Cisco and I’m here to see Nancy.”
    3. “Can you hold the door for me? I don’t have my key/access card on me.”

    Phishing Lures

    1. “You have not paid for the item you recently won on eBay. Please click here to pay.”
    2. “You’ve been let go. Click here to register for severance pay.”

I really suggest that you read the whole article on PC World. It’s pretty interesting and could help you protect yourself from scammers.

  • Speed Up Flock – Again

Posted on July 10th, 2008 TRBdigital No comments

I never realized it at first, but when the update for Flock came out and i updated, my old settings were erased.

Here is the tweak for speeding up Flock again.

[1] type about:config into the address bar at the top and wait for page to load
[2] in the filter type network.http
[3] locate the strand called network.http.pipelining and double click it to change the value from false to true
[4] Do the same to network.http.proxy.pipelining
[5] Then locate network.http.pipelining.maxrequests – double click and change the value to 30 or higher (I’m using 40)
[6] Finally, close flock and load it up again…”

I hope this makes your browsing a little quicker.

  • Top Affiliate Challenge has been a disappointment

Posted on July 9th, 2008 TRBdigital 2 comments

I have to say that I am very disappointed in the Top Affiliate Challenge.  I waited for it for the last few weeks and was eager to see the gurus work with the challengers to create affiliate income and compete in a “Apprentice” type TV show.

Being a beginning affiliate marketer and a long time web developer, I was very excited.  My family called me a geek and I sat by my computer waiting for show to begin.  I was immediately disappointed by the poor download time – waiting about 1.5 hours to watch a 30 minute show.  However i am sticking with it, and by looking for positives, I have gotten a few tidbits of information.  I believe that it will get better, and I will watch till the end — no matter how painful!

BTW – an obvious prediction is that Jonathan Van Clute is going to win.
